Owning a wood-fired oven may well change your life - it changed mine.

A cob oven in your garden becomes a focal point and the best reason to invite folks for supper.
Start your party by lighting the fire and preparing the ingredients. In less than an hour you are ready to bake pizza and flatbread in the high heat of around 350ºC.
Your guests will love making their own pizza and baking it in around 2 minute or less. Less is more: top your pizza with simple toppings like tomato sauce, basil and mozzarella or maybe just olive oil, salt and rosemary. The aromas are to die for - the woodsmoke adds to the flavour - you've got yourself an authentic pizza flavour that can't be beat.

You can continue baking pizza all night or maybe move onto the next course. Rake out the fire and your oven will settle to around 200ºC - this should hold for a couple of hours. Your oven is perfect for roasting, so try chicken, fish, lamb, vegetables, kebabs, stews, tarts, pies... anything you desire. Keep your fire going in a fire bowl and you can return it later to raise the temperature again.
e as creative as you wish: this is cooking with your senses. Trust them!


There are a couple of routes to owning your own cob oven. You can attend one of our workshops (see dates top right of this page) and then build your own, or we can run a workshop at your home over two days and you can invite friends and family to join in the fun. Over a weekend, we will start on Saturday morning and by Sunday evening you will be baking pizza and opening the beers!

We can supply materials, peels, rakes, doors, blow pipes and buckets - you just supply the hungry helpers.

Please note:
I can send you, via email, photographs of oven bases and shelters along with guidelines for the size and the materials you will need. You will need to prepare the base before I can come to build the oven.
To date I have travelled far and wide running these workshops. I live in South Shropshire, and as long as you are happy to cover the travel expenses , distance should not be a problem.
Often I am accomodated by my clients, as well as staying in a nearby B&B, the cost of which is covered by the client.
